OUR STAFF

WHO ARE WE?

We are a family run business with over 70 years experience in the disposal and cremation of horses and ponies. We operate within the Yorkshire and Lancashire region and all cremations are carried out at our own purpose built crematorium.

David was the third generation of Mitchells to continue offering this service to horse owners and veterinary surgeons. He was the former owner of Miles Mitchell & Son of Thornton until the late 1990’s when the present business was formed dedicated to equines. David sadly passed away in 2012. The business was initially continued by his daughter Liz and wife Mary and in 2014 his middle daughter Catherine joined the business. Catherine has since been joined in the business by her son Joshua.
Having all bred and competed horses in our own right and having suffered the sad loss of our own equine family friends over the years, we understand how upsetting this can be.

We are here to offer you compassionate, discreet and reliable service at a very sad time, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

OUR STAFF

Catherine

Catherine

Catherine has bred and competed her own horses over the years with a particular interest in dressage. She holds her BHSAI and a HND in equine business management. Prior to joining the business she was a freelance instructor and was on the BHS Register Of Instructors. When time allows she is in the process of bringing on her two homebred horses.

Mary

Mary was married to David for over 40 years and continues to run our office and offer care and support to our clients. Having grown up on a farm and been a pony club mum to three girls she cannot remember a time when horses have not been a part of her life.

joshua

Joshua

Joshua is David’s grandson and was eager to follow in his grandads footsteps as the fifth generation of the family to be involved in the business. He rode and competed as a child until his mid teens when a talent for rugby put an end to his riding. All of the time spent learning show preparation of his ponies seems to have stood him in good stead for his main hobby now which is showing his Suffolk sheep.

Lucy

Lucy

Lucy has worked with us since 2015 primarily in the office but also when the need arises in other areas of the business. She has ridden from an early age and now spends her free time taking her daughter out for hacks around Bronte country on her pony.

Eddie

Eddie joined the business in 2017 after deciding on a career change. A compassionate animal lover Eddie has owned several horses and has a particular interest in coloured cobs. He is currently training his two sheepdogs with the aim of competing in trials with them.
